Deep Ellum Brewing Company was awarded a Gold medal at the 2023 Texas Craft Brewers Cup presented by the Texas Craft Brewers Guild. The best beers in 27 medal categories covering 150+ different beer styles were awarded gold, silver, and bronze medals during an awards ceremony at the Texas Craft Brewers Guild’s Annual Meeting at Hilton Austin on Saturday, February 11.

Deep Ellum Brewing Company was recognized in the Golden, Blond & Light Ales category for Neato Bandito – a 6% ABV high-flying Mexican-style beer brewed with corn for a hint of sweetness. Light in color but big in flavor, Neato Bandito is refreshing enough to match any occasion.

“The coolest part about winning this medal is that we entered the exact same Neato Bandito that you can find year-round on store shelves and on tap all over Texas,” shared Deep Ellum Brewing Company Head Brewer, Brian Morris. “We didn’t brew a special ‘competition batch’ or anything like that. We just grabbed some cans off the line and entered it. I couldn’t be prouder of this team and their accomplishments. It’s an honor to win a gold medal alongside the great Texas breweries who also brought home medals from the competition.”

Judging took place January 27-29 in Austin with 48 judges evaluating 852 anonymized entries from 152 breweries hailing from all different corners of the state. The Texas Craft Brewers Cup judging pool was composed of experienced brewing industry professionals and members of the homebrewing community with extensive Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP) judging experience.
